PETIT JURY

 

 

MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2024, CRIMINAL PETIT JURY

If you have been summoned to appear for Criminal Petit Jury beginning Monday, April 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., you WILL need to report for jury service.

 

MONDAY, MAY 13, 2024, CRIMINAL PETIT JURY

If you have been summoned to appear for Criminal Petit Jury beginning Monday, May 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., you WILL need to report for jury service.

 

MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2024, CRIMINAL PETIT JURY

If you have been summoned to appear for Criminal Petit Jury beginning Monday, June 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., you WILL need to report for jury service.

 

GRAND JURY

 

 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26, 2024, GRAND JURY

If you have been summoned to appear for Grand Jury beginning Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., you WILL need to report for jury service.

 

 

 

 

 



 

Juror Qualifications 

 

You must have the following qualifications to serve as a juror:

  • You must be a citizen of the United States and of this state who has resided within Allen Parish for at least one year immediately preceding this date

  • You must be at least 18 years of age

  • You must be able to read, write, and speak the English language and be possessed of sufficient knowledge of the English language

  • You must not be under interdiction or incapable of serving as a juror because of a mental or physical infirmity, provided that no person shall be deemed incompetent solely because of the loss of hearing in any degree

  • You must not be under indictment, incarcerated under an order of imprisonment, or on probation or parole for a felony offense within the five-year period immediately preceding the current jury service. 

 

Exemptions from Jury Service

 

  • If you have actually served on a jury within the last 2 years you may claim this exemption.  If you wish to serve on the jury you need not claim this exemption

  • If you are over the age of 70, you may claim this exemption.  If you wish to serve on the jury you need not claim this exemption

 

 

 

     All requests to be excused from jury duty must be made in writing explaining your hardship or why you feel you cannot serve, along with a current telephone number.  You may also claim an exemption or state your lack of qualification to serve as a juror by returning your subpoena with the appropriate information included thereon.  Please forward all requests to the presiding judge as directed below NO LATER THAN 2 BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO THE TRIAL DATE:
